Yiyuan Ancient Mansion

The Maxing Chen Yiyuan Mansion, also known as Yiyuan Ancient Mansion, is a national historic monument and the largest ancient residence in Changhua. It is also a well-known grand mansion in Taiwan. Constructed in 1846 during the 26th year of the Daoguang Emperor's reign, the Chen family became wealthy through business after migrating to Taiwan. They subsequently purchased land to build this grand mansion and estate. In 1859, during the 9th year of the Xianfeng Emperor's reign, a family member successfully passed the imperial examination (Juren). Later, several other family members achieved the titles of civil and military scholars (Xiucai) and tribute students (Gongsheng), signifying the family's distinguished status and accomplishments.
