The Taishang Longtou Zhongyi Temple is located in Tou-she, Danei. Although named a 'temple,' it is actually an 'ancestral hall' (gongxie) of the Pingpu Siraya indigenous people. It is a place where tribal members worship their 'Taizu' (ancestral deities), also known as Alimu, Alizu, or Laojun. (Its registration as a 'temple' was due to early regulations by the Ministry of Interior for temple registration.) During the Japanese colonial period, the Tou-she ancestral hall was built as a thatched hut. It was rebuilt into a brick structure with black tiles only after the war, but it maintains the traditional architectural style of an ancestral hall, featuring three walls and no main entrance.
