Visitor Essentials

Wu Sha's Former Residence, located in the Sicheng Area of Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, is not only a century-old ancient house imbued with profound value but also the most important historical landmark in Yilan's development history. This quaint Sanheyuan-style building is situated within Beimen Lane, and many descendants of the Wu Sha family still reside in the surrounding area, maintaining the complete traditional village character. The existing residence was built around 1921 (the 10th year of the Taishō era), featuring a traditional layout with five main rooms and three rooms each in the left and right side wings. Its structure is a blend of mud bricks, stone walls, and red bricks. The mottled brick-red exterior walls, under the dappled light of swaying trees, appear exceptionally elegant, as if time has been frozen in the rural days of a century ago, allowing visitors to intimately experience the spatial sense of life from yesteryear.
