Wanglongpi, located in Zhenshan Village, Yuanshan Township, Yilan County, immediately behind Hushan Elementary School, is a natural lake surrounded by mountains on three sides. It is also known as Ruanpi (Soft Lake). Legend has it that this lake was naturally formed a century ago by flash floods and the accumulation of eroded soil and rocks. Covering approximately four to five hectares, it has an an elongated shape. The lake's water level is closely linked to rainfall, and its name is derived from the local old proverb, 'Wind follows the tiger, clouds follow the dragon.' Local elders used this name to pray for abundant rainfall and the well-being of the residents. For a long time, Wanglongpi has served as a vital water source for the daily lives and agricultural irrigation of Yuanshan Township residents, and it embodies the local community's reverence and gratitude towards nature.
