Visitor Essentials
The Luodong Forestry Culture Park is situated in the conveniently accessible Luodong urban area. It was formerly the 'Luodong Branch Office' and log pond site from the Japanese colonial period. In the past, this was the terminal for timber transportation and a major processing hub for Taiping Mountain Forest Farm (one of Taiwan's three major government-run forest farms). After logging operations at Taiping Mountain ceased in 1982, the site retained its original appearance. It was planned for transformation by the Yilan Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency in 2004, and officially registered as a 'Cultural Landscape' under the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act in 2012. Today, it has shed its industrial facade, becoming an urban secret garden that blends history, ecology, and art.
