Dongpu Hot Spring

A brand new public hot spring foot bath has been built within Dongpu Square. While soaking your feet, you can enjoy the White Deer Legend landmark next to the square and the mountain scenery of Dongpu, offering visitors a more intimate way to experience Dongpu's hot springs and scenery. The inspiration for the White Deer Legend landmark comes from a local Bunun tribe legend: a Sambar deer, accidentally wounded by a hunter, soaked in the Dongpu Hot Spring while passing through Dongpu, and its wounds healed. Inspired by this, designer Hsiao Ching-Yang created a 3-meter long, 1.5-meter high white deer sculpture, symbolizing the healing properties of Dongpu Hot Spring. The Dongpu Hot Spring Square, newly completed in 2020, features walls constructed with slate, symbolizing the traditional slate houses of the Bunun people, allowing visitors to experience the culture of Dongpu, a Bunun tribal settlement, as soon as they enter the square. The space within the square can also be used for activities such as markets, bringing people closer to Dongpu.
