The Japanese-style dormitory complex of the Minxiong Branch of the Central Broadcasting System was roughly established around Showa 15 (1940), which coincided with the establishment phase of the Minxiong Hōsōkyoku (Broadcasting Station). Hōsōkyoku was the term for a broadcasting station during the Japanese colonial period. The importance and representativeness of the Minxiong Broadcasting Station to the development of Taiwan's broadcasting industry also enhanced the historical value of the Japanese-style dormitory complex of the Minxiong Branch of the Central Broadcasting System. Based on the 'Taiwan Governor-General's Office Official Residence Building Standards' promulgated in Taishō 11 (1922), the dormitory area currently preserved by the Minxiong Branch can be categorized into four types of official residence standards: high-ranking official residences, Type A two-unit residences for appointed officials, Type B two-unit residences for appointed officials, and Type C two-unit residences for appointed officials. A clustered settlement is more significant and challenging to preserve than a single building because it retains the environment and atmosphere of that era. This unique environment and atmosphere, combined with the surroundings of the Minxiong Branch of the Central Broadcasting System and its Japanese-style guesthouse, forms an important historical and cultural preservation area. It fully showcases the characteristics of industrial architecture from Taiwan's Japanese colonial period, making it truly rare and unique. The historical spaces associated with the Japanese-style dormitory complex of the Minxiong Branch of the Central Broadcasting System are still well-preserved. Its historical value was recognized when it was officially announced and registered by the Chiayi County Government as a Chiayi County Historic Building on July 6, 2000.
