Evening Neon - Xingjia Suspension Bridge The 'Xingjia Suspension Bridge', as its name suggests, is a suspension bridge that passes through Chiayi City. It was built in 2007 by the nationally renowned Heminde Charity Group, which provided funds and labor, to facilitate commuting and travel for students and residents on both sides, connecting Xing'an Village and Xingcun Village. The Xingjia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer long bicycle path lined with Taiwan Flame Trees. To its south are the Xingren Section's Riverside Sports Park and Water Park. Coupled with the riverbank ecological trail, ecological garden, and the religious wood carving art of Cixuan Temple in the Xingcun Section, it all symbolizes the gradual formation of an ecological recreational space in the southern district of Chiayi City. Currently, to boost local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed nighttime neon lighting on the bridge. This makes the suspension bridge under the night sky appear like a long, sparkling pearl necklace in the darkness, exceptionally brilliant and dazzling, becoming a beautiful landmark of the urban bluebelt with its unique nighttime charm. Historical Tidbits The Xingjia Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge built by the Chiayi Heminde Charity Group, and it is the longest among all bridges they have constructed to date. Its construction funds and labor were entirely provided by the group. Construction of the bridge began on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months. It is a double-span, three-pier suspension bridge, 297 meters long, 33.2 meters high, and 1.65 meters wide. For pedestrian safety and to prevent the bridge from swaying due to strong winds, steel beams and supporting wooden planks were laid on the bridge during construction, and wooden handrails of varying heights and steel bases were installed on both sides. Additionally, to increase the bridge's stability, centipede-leg steel cables were specially installed and fixed on both sides beneath the bridge deck.
