The Taiwan Tile Museum has recently become a must-visit attraction for travelers to Chiayi City. It is a globally rare museum dedicated to decorative tiles, housing 1,500 pieces of various types of Taiwanese tiles. Serving as unsung heroes in Taiwan's architectural history, these decorative tiles have for centuries been one of the ways wealthy merchants adorned their homes and showcased their family's prosperity. Over more than 20 years, the Taiwan Tile House has rescued, restored, and preserved over 4,000 century-old tiles, exhibiting the architectural art of Taiwanese tiles from 1915 to 1935. The Taiwan Tile Museum has also garnered international attention in recent years. This includes SPAWORLD, a renowned SPA operator in Osaka, Japan, commissioning a team of Taiwanese artisans to design and produce 5,500 tiles to create a tile-themed space; Japan's NHK television station featuring the Taiwan Tile Museum and a special report on tile-series products imported into Japan; and South Korean luxury skincare brand Sulwhasoo launching a limited-edition charitable skincare product featuring Taiwanese tiles. Furthermore, it has been selected by the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an official diplomatic gift from Taiwan. The museum is filled with world-class precious tile culture, making it well worth a visit. Photos provided by Taiwan Tile Museum.
