Dadaocheng Wharf Container Market

Dadaocheng was originally home to the Pingpu indigenous people. Following fierce armed conflicts among the Tongan people in Wanhua (Monga), the local population relocated and settled in Dadaocheng, leading to the construction of shops and houses along the Tamsui River. After Tamsui Port was opened, Dadaocheng flourished under Liu Ming-chuan's administration, becoming Taipei City's most prosperous distribution hub. Tea and textiles were the primary trade goods. At that time, the areas around Yanping North Road and Guide Street were the heart of commercial activities, making Dadaocheng's early history vibrant and memorable.
