The Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall's 'Auditorium and Surrounding Facilities Project' is scheduled to run from 2024 to the end of 2026. It is currently undergoing renovation and is not open to the public. Completed in 1972, the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was designed by architect Wang Da-hong to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary deeds and character, and to promote his ideology and theories. In addition to serving as a place for people from Taiwan and abroad to pay respects to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, it also functions as a center for cultural and artistic education, recreation, and academic research. The majestic and solemn building is situated in the lush, tree-lined Zhongshan Park, becoming a shining star in Taipei's East District. It has also brought a fresh look to the nation's culture and arts, hosting numerous art activities such as arts and culture corridors, cultural and art exhibitions, and youth creations. Additionally, it boasts excellent indoor performance spaces for theater productions and events, including well-known ceremonies like the Golden Horse Awards and Golden Bell Awards, which have been held here. In the mornings, one can see elderly men and women practicing Tai Chi and folk dancing here. On holidays, the spacious plaza is an excellent spot for families to play frisbee, rollerblade, and enjoy leisurely walks.
