Since Cai Lun of the Eastern Han Dynasty invented papermaking using tree bark, hemp waste, and old rags, and as techniques evolved, paper was gradually refined into various exquisite forms. Mr. Chen Shu-Ho, the founder of Chang Chuen Cotton Paper Mill, after decades of dedicated operation, was moved by the 'regret that paper, born from Chinese culture, had not been adequately promoted in modern times,' and thus vowed to establish a paper museum. After five years of preparation, the Suho Memorial Paper Museum officially opened to the public in October 1995. The 1st floor is divided into a shop and a handmade papermaking demonstration factory. The shop sells various contemporary design-related products and occasionally offers themed products, while the demonstration factory simulates the handmade paper production process for visitors to understand. The 2nd floor currently serves as an exhibition space, accepting exhibition proposals from various sectors. The 3rd floor is the Paper Science Experiment Zone, where parents and children can learn about paper through interactive and sensory experiences. The 4th floor is the Papermaking Experience Zone, where everyone can personally make a piece of paper to take home. This area also promotes recycled paper and environmental education, encouraging the conservation of Earth's resources.
