Established in 1964, the Taipei City Social Education Center is a well-known cultural and artistic space, with the primary goal of promoting arts and cultural activities. Its open areas, primarily the 1st-floor lobby and three exhibition halls, are mainly used for static exhibitions. It also regularly presents various music, dance, and drama activities at the City Stage and Art Plaza. After the completion of renovations in 2003, the performance section was renamed 'City Stage' and relaunched, becoming a more professional, modern, and comprehensive theater, making it a more suitable urban activity space for modern times. In addition to the main Social Education Center on Bade Road, the Yanping Activity Center in Datong District, the Wenshan Branch in Wenshan District, and the Parent-Child Plaza in the City Hall building were also added. This not only alleviated the capacity limitations of the main center but also allowed more people to conveniently participate in social education activities. In 2014 (ROC year 103), in accordance with the amendment to the organizational regulations of the Department of Cultural Affairs, it was renamed the 'Taipei Cultural Promotion Office' and officially inaugurated on November 6, 2015 (ROC year 104).
