Guandu Nature Park is located at the confluence of the Tamsui River and Keelung River, and has historically been an important habitat for migratory birds. After more than a decade of efforts by conservationists from all sectors, Guandu Nature Park was established in 1996. Since December 1, 2001, the park has been managed and operated by the Wild Bird Society of Taipei, commissioned by the Taipei City Government. The primary objectives of Guandu Nature Park are to conserve the wetland environment of Guandu, restore the landscape of Guandu wetlands, bring back the native species of Guandu wetlands, and educate the public about the Guandu wetlands. To enhance public understanding of wetlands, the park frequently organizes diverse wetland environmental education activities and exhibitions, such as special themed exhibitions, holiday lectures, parent-child DIY classes, and camps. It also assists schools in conducting various environmental education programs, including guided tours at stations and outdoor teaching. In addition to preserving the natural wetland environment, it also provides a great place for citizens and tourists to experience nature and enjoy leisure time on holidays.
