The establishment of the Evergreen Maritime Museum was a long-cherished wish of Mr. Chang Yung-fa, founder of the Evergreen Group. He hoped that through the maritime museum, his deep affection for the ocean and the promotion of Taiwan's maritime education could be conveyed. It is a maritime-themed museum suitable for visitors of all generations and backgrounds. The museum houses a vast and diverse collection of model ships, ranging from dugout canoes built by ancient humans to various types of sailing ships, mechanically powered vessels, and working boats developed in the West. It also features bamboo rafts that showcase Taiwanese island culture, as well as 'Wang Ye' boats (King's boats) which hold religious significance. Furthermore, the museum displays numerous ocean-themed paintings spanning from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Visitors can appreciate diverse maritime scenes depicted by artists of different eras, from intense war scenes to glistening sailboat reflections on the water. Additionally, the Evergreen Maritime Museum features a Navigation Exploration Zone. Equipped with navigation instruments and multimedia interactive displays, it allows visitors to personally experience and learn about maritime navigation.
