Visitor Essentials

The predecessor of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park was the Songshan Tobacco Factory, built in 1937 during the Japanese colonial era. It was once a symbol of Taiwan's modernized industry and was Taiwan's first professional cigarette factory. The architectural style of the park primarily features "early Japanese modernism," with a simple yet refined design. It boasts clean lines, large windows, and exquisite exposed aggregate exterior walls. Although the factory ceased production in 1998, after being designated a municipal historic site in 2001, this historical site was properly preserved and transformed into a hub for contemporary cultural and creative industries. Today, this old factory has successfully transformed into the heart of Taiwan's creative energy. The rows of tobacco factories and warehouses from back then have now become premier art exhibition and performance spaces, both domestically and internationally. Whether it's international photography exhibitions, large-scale design expos, or popular IP character special exhibitions, they are held here almost daily. The park's core features Taiwan's first design-themed museum, as well as numerous "cultural and creative shops and studios" transformed from old offices. Here, you can discover unique works by emerging Taiwanese designers. Beyond culture and creativity, the Baroque garden in the center of the park, with its symmetrical fountains and exquisite landscaping, offers a wonderful corner for relaxation. The adjacent ecological pond (originally a fire reservoir) is now home to egrets, turtles, and various aquatic plants, adding endless vitality to this industrial heritage site. Whether you want to see a world-class exhibition, search for unique designer items, spend an afternoon in one of the old tobacco factory's cafes, or simply unwind by the ecological pond in the city center, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is worth a visit.
