Yuanshan Water Shrine

The Yuanshan Water Shrine is located opposite MRT Jiantan Station, next to the Yangming Branch of the Taiwan Water Corporation. Follow the concrete stairs, and you will find the Yuanshan Water Shrine next to the reservoir. It retains the stone lanterns, shrine name monument, purification basin, and a pair of guardian lion-dogs from its original construction. This is a shrine left over from the Japanese colonial period, with its layout largely well-preserved, and it is conveniently located near an MRT station. However, because it is less known, few tourists visit. The site also includes the 'Yuanshan Reservoir,' an important hydraulic node of the 'Caoshan Waterway System.' Although the Yuanshan Water Shrine is just a road away from the Shilin commercial district, it is a tranquil place, exuding an antique, mysterious, and serene atmosphere.
