Visitor Essentials

Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Park was originally named "Jinxi Park". It is located in the Dadaocheng area, covers an area of 5,060 square meters, and is the largest neighborhood park in Datong District. Mr. Chiang Wei-shui was a Taiwanese democratic activist and cultural pioneer. Many events in his life occurred in the Dadaocheng area, such as establishing the Da'an Hospital, founding the Taiwan Cultural Association, and setting up the Min Bao General Wholesale Office. To commemorate Mr. Chiang Wei-shui, the Taipei City Government renamed the nearby Jinxi Park to "Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Park". Inside the park, there is an entrance monument (square stele) and a memorial archway. The side wall of the entrance monument is inscribed with a biography of Mr. Chiang Wei-shui written by historian Zhuang Yongming, available in Chinese, English, and Japanese versions to facilitate visitors from all over. The design of the memorial archway's exterior replicates the Baroque architectural style of Dihua Street, recreating a distinctive local look. Above the inscription wall on the front, a plaque bearing "Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Stele" is embedded, while the two side pillars feature the slogan "Compatriots must unite, unity is truly powerful" penned by calligrapher Pan Qingzhong. The overall scene is solemn and dignified, effectively highlighting its commemorative significance. The park also provides facilities such as pavilions, park benches, and play equipment, inviting everyone to slow down and explore Chiang Wei-shui's story.
