Fumin Ecological Park is one of the few parks in Taipei City primarily focused on aquatic ecology. After about five years of planning and construction, it was completed at the end of 2002 (ROC year 91). Fumin Ecological Park is located next to Lane 177, Section 5, Minsheng East Road in Songshan District, situated between Sanmin Road and Xindong Street. The total area of the park is approximately 8,413 square meters. The park's main feature is its nearly 100-meter-long ecological waterway, which resembles a miniature version of a northern Taiwanese stream. Downstream from the riverine ecological zone is the pond ecological zone, featuring aquatic plants such as common duckweed, water lilies, cattails, and Taiwan water shield. At the final end of the ecological zone, the flood plain area also boasts a rich variety of aquatic plants, including long-leaved sagittaria, Houttuynia cordata, and oval-leaf water primrose. Walking through Fumin Ecological Park, you can see animals such as birds, amphibians, and insects; hear the croaking of frogs, the chirping of birds, and the sound of flowing water; and smell the natural fragrance emanating from ginger lilies and osmanthus flowers. Fumin Park offers Taipei citizens, who usually live amidst the hustle and bustle, an opportunity to calm their minds and experience the beauty of nature.
