Visitor Essentials
140 Highland Park covers an area of 5.6 hectares, situated in Wanmei Village, Wenshan District, Taipei City, north of Wanning Street, within a hilly area nestled between Wanning Street and Section 2 of Wanmei Street. Baozijiao Mountain, with its peak at an elevation of 138 meters, is located within 140 Highland Park, adjacent to Wanning Street. Before the establishment of the Wanfang Community, this parkland was known as Baozijiao, a vast hilly area inhabited by only 45 households. Today, the summit of the 138-meter-high Baozijiao Mountain offers expansive views. In 2004, Wenshan (Muzha) Park No. 80 was developed (covering approximately 2.2 hectares), and in 2007, Wenshan (Muzha) Park No. 30 was developed (covering approximately 3.4 hectares). These two parks combined are now known as '140 Highland Park.' The park's trailheads are located next to Wanning Street No. 125 and No. 225. Following the winding wooden boardwalk stairs upwards, after reaching the ridge, the path transitions to a gravel staircase trail. As you follow the ridge, you'll find a rich and diverse forest. Along the way, there are observation decks and pavilions offering excellent views. From here, visitors can overlook the landscape below, gaze at Taipei 101, and the twinkling city lights. They can also enjoy distant views of Wenshan District's scenic beauty, making it an ideal spot for stargazing and moon-watching. To foster a sustainable ecological environment, during the park's development, efforts were made to preserve the original topography as much as possible, avoiding damage to animal and plant habitats. Only essential facilities and footpaths connecting to surrounding green spaces were installed within the park, providing citizens with a natural place for exercise and leisure. Local residents in Alley 23, Wanning Street, self-funded the construction of a concrete pond. They utilized the existing power system to install a simple filtration tank to filter the pond water, which is approximately 100 cm deep. To ensure visitor safety and enhance the overall landscape, the original pond walls were removed and replaced with a stone-stacked enclosure around the pond. This was completed in March 2007. Currently, it has successfully attracted frogs, whose loud croaking further enhances the tranquility of the area. This park also features Taipei City's only 'Mountain Landmark Guide Map,' where visitors can learn about the mountains, including their names and elevations. Additionally, there are simple fitness facilities, exercise equipment, stretch chairs, and more. Beyond hiking and enjoying the scenery, visitors can also experience the pleasure of stretching and exercising in the peaceful mountain setting.
