The Sun Yun-suan Technology and Humanities Memorial Hall, located in the south of Taipei City, was Mr. Sun Yun-suan's residence during his tenure as Premier. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and resided there until his passing in 2006, a total of 26 years. During his time as Premier, many important decisions and policy guidelines were conceived here. After Mr. Sun's passing, in recognition of his contributions to Taiwan, the Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government, designated it as a municipal historical site in 2006 and entrusted the Sun Yun-suan Academic Foundation with its operation and management, hoping to ensure the full reuse of the historical site. The residence, occupying 866 ping (approx. 2,868 square meters), includes the historical building, a newly constructed annex, and a garden. Within the historical site, which features a blend of traditional Chinese and Western architectural styles, permanent exhibitions showcase the glory and development of Taiwan's economy and insights into Mr. Sun Yun-suan's personal life. A special exhibition area is also set up, with its content changed periodically. The newly constructed building, designed with the historical building's architectural elements in mind, serves as a cultural exchange space for various lectures, performances, and courses. In the garden surrounding the buildings, visitors can find Mr. Sun's favorite fish pond, magnolia flowers personally planted by his wife, and towering, ancient trees. The establishment of the memorial hall aims to highlight Mr. Sun Yun-suan's dedication to public service and his exemplary spirit. Furthermore, it seeks to offer a cultural venue that is both traditional and modern, profound yet accessible, through various activities and exhibits.
