Taipei Pop Music Center

The Taipei Pop Music Center is located between Nangang Station and Kunyang Station on the MRT Bannan Line. It is designed as a multi-functional park, occupying an area of 8.96 hectares, and is divided into a North Base and a South Base by Civic Boulevard. The 'Performance Hall,' a medium-to-large-scale venue dedicated to pop music performances with a capacity of 5,000 people, is located in the North Base. The South Base features facilities such as the 'Pop Music Culture Hall,' which showcases the glorious history and various facets of Taiwanese pop music through themed exhibitions, and the 'Industry Zone,' which aims to cultivate Taiwanese music talent. Bringing together pop music and pop culture, the Taipei Pop Music Center is not only a venue for pop music performances but also a functional park that originates from the pop music industry, depicting pop culture and lifestyles. The architecture of the Taipei Pop Music Center was designed by RUR Architecture from the United States. Its inspiration comes from ancient Roman forums, utilizing circular spaces to combine art, commerce, markets, and performance events. The aim is to create a 'functional building' that can be used in different ways 24 hours a day, through extensive use by pop music industry professionals, citizens, and international tourists. The North and South Bases are connected by a distinctive pedestrian bridge. The three main buildings are aligned on the same horizontal axis, which not only enhances the overall architectural unity but also uses a visual axis to guide visitors to different destinations. In the future, the Taipei Pop Music Center aims to become a new landmark for Chinese pop music in Asia. Besides gathering creative talent, it hopes to foster a cluster of pop music and related industries, showcase excellent Taiwanese pop music culture, and create synergistic cross-industry energy between pop music and culture.
