The Songshan Sanatorium, established in 1915, was Taiwan's earliest facility for tuberculosis patients. With its establishment, the Director's Residence was also built. The Songshan Sanatorium Director's Residence was likely constructed after the promulgation of the 'Governor-General's Official Residence Standardization' decree in 1922, as the construction of high-ranking officials' residences at that time followed specific regulations. Jingxin Courtyard (the Songshan Sanatorium Director's Residence) is a Japanese-style wooden structure. Its features, including the installation of weatherboards, a Japanese-style double-beam roof truss, spatial layout, and building materials, largely showcase the construction techniques of the Japanese colonial period. Among its unique architectural features are the indoor umbrella-shaped ceiling and the column-shaped decorations on both sides of the exterior foyer, all contributing to its cultural heritage value.
