In a narrow sense, Monga Old Street refers to the area around Guiyang Street in front of Qingshan Temple in Monga. Its predecessor was called 'Sweet Potato Market Street' and it is known as Taipei's First Street. It is Taipei City's oldest street and was the starting point of Monga's prosperity. To this day, it still preserves some characteristic red-brick buildings from the Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial era.
