Legend has it that Qingshuiyan Temple was founded by Master Juetong, a monk from Quanzhou, in 1728 AD. He built a thatched hut here, dedicated himself to spiritual cultivation, meditated on Buddhist teachings, and deeply moved the local devotees. Over time, as its popularity grew, funds were raised to build a temple, and the thatched hut was finally rebuilt into a formal temple in 1758 AD, primarily enshrining the Three Precious Buddhas. His disciples constructed an underground channel to divert mountain spring water and built a well in a hollow, naming it "Xixinchi" (Heart-Washing Pond). Furthermore, Qingshuiyan boasts a spacious area with an elegant surrounding environment, lush trees, a tranquil atmosphere, and clear mountain springs. Every spring, as nature awakens and vibrant new life emerges, "Qingshui Spring Scenery" is renowned as one of the Eight Sights of Changhua.
