Daqi Village Creative Base

The base is located in Daqi Village, Guantian District, Tainan, adjacent to Wushantou Reservoir and National Tainan University of the Arts (hereinafter referred to as NTUA). In the 1930s, due to the construction of the reservoir by Japanese engineer Yoichi Hatta for water storage, the ancestors of the original settlements within the reservoir's scope relocated to the current site of Daqi Village, separated by a hill. The core members of our team graduated from the Graduate Institute of Architecture and Art at NTUA. Having resided in Daqi Village for twelve years, they identify themselves as 'art farmers,' integrating the village's landscape and unique characteristics to cultivate 'playful art' in this mountain village. Adopting the concept of a 'Village Play Island,' they integrate local environmental resources, transform village ruins, and create an 'experiential learning' base that offers fun, aesthetics, healing, and exploration. Simultaneously, the team is dedicated to developing local revitalization initiatives that combine 'community design' with 'creative living experiences,' aiming to inspire imaginative creative lives in both urban and rural areas through the 'Village Play Island' local revitalization model and its design thinking practices.
