2026 Fo Guang Cup | International University Basketball Invitational

The Fo Guang Cup International University Basketball Invitational is co-hosted by the Kaohsiung City Government, Fo Guang University, and Nanhua University, and organized by the San Hao Sports Association. It combines the 'Three Good Deeds' spirit of Humanistic Buddhism (Do good deeds, Speak good words, Think good thoughts) with the passion and discipline of basketball, creating an international stage that emphasizes skill, character, and culture. The San Hao Sports Association was founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, with the original intention of 'cultivating talent through education,' promoting nationwide sports, and nurturing young athletic talent and sound character. The Master believed that basketball is not just a competition, but a form of spiritual cultivation – teamwork is giving (Dana), adhering to rules is observing precepts (Sila), and respecting opponents is endurance (Ksanti). Since its inception in 2010, the Fo Guang Cup has become an important platform in Asia for promoting international university basketball exchanges, and a grand basketball event that fosters friendships among young people from various countries. Over the years, it has invited top teams from Taiwan, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Macao, and other regions to compete, showcasing diverse playing styles and the sparks of cultural convergence. Every game is not just a fierce battle for every point, but also the best arena for character and conviction. The 2026 Fo Guang Cup will be held at the Kaohsiung Arena, continuing Venerable Master Hsing Yun's international vision of 'connecting the world through sports' and 'promoting exchanges through culture,' making Kaohsiung an important hub for basketball exchange in Asia, and allowing the world to witness the power of Taiwanese youth shining between belief and skill.
